Sometimes I like to think my life is a movie. Or better yet a musical! You know what I mean. I step outside my door in the morning, ready to start my day! I lookup at the sun, close my eyes, breathe in the smell of the season, and the music begins. Something spunky and instrumental, something that fits the beat of my walk. I wave to my neighbor Joe that's mowing his lawn, who waves back more enthusiastically than someone typically does when mowing!
Just then a delivery truck appears at my curb and the delivery man leaps from his truck, frolics up my driveway to hand me a package! He prances back to the truck as I look at the package! The note says it's from a secret admirer! I look up and....I begin to sing my song about my secret admirer and how wonderful my day is going to be!
I could go on about how later in the day everyone at the grocery store chimes in on another song that I'm singing about how silly it was that I left my shopping list at home. Then the weird Asian man looking at the apples trying to decide between Gala and Granny Smith suddenly turns to the camera and sings a line like, "what's a girl to do?" In my mind he looks and sounds like my old landlord. Short, small, and a really strong accent!
But wouldn't it be great if life really was a musical? There is always a conflict which needs that slow song sung by the main character. A monologue about how things just aren't right. Soon after they meet a friend or loved one who sings to them the reprise of how things will work out in the end. There is usually a love story between two people who have obstacles they must over come to make their love for each other work! This is done with one of those split picture scenes where they sing a duet but they are in two different places. And there is always a bad guy who gets theirs in the end! They have that upbeat catchy song that you don't want to like because they are the bad guy but you can't help but to sing along.
Alas my life is not a musical! (Well...sometimes in my head it is!) I think we all make our life a musical though. We make mix tapes with our favorite songs and change the cd in our car to fit whatever type of mood we are in. So in a way everyone's life is a musical! We are not all in the same musical! That's for sure! Some are in a gangsta musical getting shot at, while others are in a punk/emo musical with way too many boys wearing tight pants and long hair, and the more unfortunate ones are in a country musical where they loose their loved one, house, dog, and truck all in one song! :) Either way~ make the best of whatever musical your life is in! And change it up from time to time!
